TEETH STRAIGHTENING: What are my options?

Since the New Year, we have had a lot of enquiries from people looking to straighten their teeth. Many people have something that annoys them about their smile and often slightly crooked teeth are the culprit. However, if you make it through your teens without having the problems rectified, many feel their time has passed. Step in adult braces. There are several options available so here we give the lowdown on some of them to help you make an informed choice.

Invisalign®

Treatment: Our most popular adult brace, largely because it is also the most subtle of the options, Invisalign uses a series of aligners to help achieve your perfect smile in a discreet way. Often the prefered option when teeth have moved back after braces have been worn previously. The aligners are custom-made from a clear material that moulds comfortably to your teeth and are also removable so they can be taken out for short periods.

Time: Treatment times will vary for each case but are typically between six months and a year. During the straightening process, you will need to pop in to see us so we can check your teeth are moving as they should. You will need a retainer to ensure they stay in place.

Six Month Smiles®

Treatment: This clever system offers a short-term orthodontic option that takes a fresh twist on traditional orthodontic techniques by realigning teeth quickly and discreetly. It is fast-acting because it uses advanced technology on only those teeth that show when you smile, and can be used to address mildly crooked, gappy or misaligned teeth. It is also a subtle option as it features clear, custom-made brackets and tooth coloured wires. Six Month Smiles incorporates all the best traits of braces but uses a modified treatment style and advanced materials, offering a practical, unobtrusive solution to fit in with your lifestyle.

Time: Six Month Smiles focuses on how your teeth will look rather than the position of your bite, which helps to speed up the process. It uses gentle forces to realign only those teeth that show when you smile. Again a retainer is required to ensure your teeth stay beautifully aligned.
