New Patients at SmilePlus

We love welcoming new patients to SmilePlus Dental and always make a real effort to get to know you. When you first come and see us, your appointment will take a little longer because we carry out a thorough check of your mouth, teeth and gums. We will also ask if you have had any dental problems, enquire about your medical history and give you the opportunity to ask questions. And if you are a little worried, we will go out of our way to make sure your visit is as stress-free as possible.

Here’s what we will be looking for:

• Tooth decay, wear or chips
• The presence of plaque or tartar, and signs of gum disease
• Signs of oral cancer in your tongue, lips, cheeks and glands
• Any problems with existing restorations such as fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures
• How your teeth bite together
• Abnormalities of the jaw joints

We may also take x-rays to make sure any hidden areas are healthy. If we do discover you need treatment, we will discuss all your options and provide you with a detailed treatment plan, including expected costs.

We will also ask if you are happy with your smile and, if not, suggest suitable cosmetic treatments to enhance the look of your teeth.

Once you are a SmilePlus patient, we focus firmly on your preventive care, so make sure you attend regular check-ups and hygiene appointments – this allows us to keep an eye on your oral health and nip any problems in the bud.
