PRACTICE NEWS: Coronavirus, COVID-19, advice

In response to the outbreak of the coronavirus, COVID-19, we are advising all patients to follow the latest Government advice, NHS advice and guidance from Health Protection Scotland.

Visiting the practice 

In the dental industry, we already have incredibly hygiene standards and we have recently passed our inspection to show we are adhering to these. That said, we’ve increased our already very high levels of cross infection control with COVID-19 in mind. Here are some changes you can expect at the practice:

• We are asking all patients to use the hand gel available on reception on arrival. You can also wash your hands in our toilet facilities.
• We are taking the temperature of patients with an infra red thermometer (no skin contact) on arrival.
• We’ve removed magazines from the waiting room.

And as a reminder:

• If you have a fever/temperature or a new cough please stay at home and self isolate as per Government guidelines.
• If anyone in your household has the symptoms of COVID-19, please also stay at home fro 14 days as per Government guidelines.
• Please call us if you can no longer attend your appointment, for whatever reason. Thank you.

How to avoid catching COVID-19 – NHS advice

You can reduce your risk of getting and spreading the infection by:

• avoiding direct hand contact with your eyes, nose and mouth
• maintaining good hand hygiene
• avoiding direct contact with people that have a respiratory illness and avoiding using their personal items such as their mobile phone
• covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with disposable tissues and disposing of them in the nearest waste bin after use.
